GEBS 2025

The great employee benefits study 2025.

GEBS-Mockup-Cover-1

What employees really want – and how employers can best meet their expectations.

For the third year in a row, Epassi, in collaboration with the think tank Pole Star Advisory and researchers from Aalto University School of Business, presents the most comprehensive European study on employee benefits. The study provides a unique insight into how employers and employees view benefits – both in Sweden and internationally.

The 2025 edition of the study takes it a step further by expanding its scope from Sweden, Finland, Italy, and the United Kingdom to also include Germany and the Netherlands. How do views on benefits differ between countries, generations, and sectors? And how well do employers’ investments align with the actual needs of their employees?

  • 87% of Swedes consider investments in physical health to be the most important benefit – yet only 35% of employers plan to increase their budgets in this area.

  • More than half of respondents have declined a job offer due to insufficient benefits.

  • Two out of three employees feel that employee benefits have a positive impact on their wellbeing – and a majority say that benefits motivate them to be more physically active.

  • 46% say their benefits help them maintain a healthy work-life balance – a figure that is even higher among younger employees.

  • More than half believe that investments in wellbeing generate greater engagement than a salary increase.
